“The word Art literally can refer to one of millions of things and is therefore virtually meaningless.”
— Anthony Grant
Hear Anthony Grant talk about Sculptureum’s curation process and what makes the experience one-of-a-kind!
When people think of “Art” they often think of a wooden frame with a boring oil painting in it. For many people, an Art Gallery is a place where art goes to die.
Sculptureum is not like this! It was created to show people that there are thousands of different art forms, many of which are dynamic, fun, and thought-provoking, and often made from materials you would never expect.
At Sculptureum you'll find a portrait of Marlon Brando made from chewing gum and a striking depiction of Steve Jobs crafted from nine layers of metal. You'll see works made from wood, resin, plastic, machine parts, cable ties, glass, and more, alongside works from some of history's most celebrated artists, including Rodin, Cézanne, Giacometti Chagall, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Basquiat and Matisse.

The art at Sculptureum is not a static collection - it’s always evolving. New works are added every few weeks so each visit offers something fresh to discover.
The Sculptureum
Experience
The Garden of Creative Diversity
A winding path takes you through beautifully landscaped gardens, past whimsical sculptures and vibrant installations.
Along the way, you’ll also meet some of our resident animals, including birds, rabbits, tortoises, and turtles.
The Galleries
Step inside and explore a diverse collection of art spread throughout five galleries. These works come from all over the world and are accompanied by descriptor panels that provide interesting information about them.
Gallery No 1 has the best display of international glass art in the southern hemisphere.
Gallery No 2 has figurative works by many famous artists.
Gallery No 3 has sculptures of animals made from all sorts of different materials.
Galleries 4 and 5 have works in a wide variety of materials.
The Palm Garden
The plants in the Palm Garden are mainly different species of palms and bromeliads. Works in the garden are mainly made of glass, metal, plastic or ceramics.
There are also clever fountains made by a German artist who specialises in water sculptures. There’s a life-size polar bear, a life-size horse, a life-size sculpture of the famous USA writer Mark Twain, a 4-metre tall rooster, and many other works.
The Pink Snail Garden
Art meets fun in this garden, where larger-than-life sculptures live, including the famous giant Pink Snails.
The works in this garden are mainly made of recycled plastic. There’s a huge green rabbit, and the famous Pink Snails, but there are lots of smaller works, including some skateboard art by the anonymous English artist known as Banksy, some skateboard art by Basquiat, a skateboarding cat, a big red pond with fountains and Anthony’s Noosa Scene with crocodiles, crayfish and lots of fun things.
The Dale Chihuly Room
The final stop on your Sculptureum adventure is a gallery featuring a two-meter-high glass masterpiece by Dale Chihuly, the world's most famous contemporary glass artist.
This breathtaking installation is the finest piece of glass art on public display in the Southern Hemisphere.
Plan Your Visit
To fully enjoy Sculptureum we recommend setting aside two hours to explore the 1.4km of pathways at your own pace. And if you’d like to make a day of it, book in at our Rothko Restaurant for a leisurely lunch.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a nature lover, or just looking for a day out of Auckland, I personally invite you to see art in a whole new way at Sculptureum.
